2012 Olympics 'Fans in Front' Scheme
Visiting London for the 2012 Summer Olympics? Well, here's some good news for you!
Here’s some news which will be good for you if you’re planning to visit
LOCOG, the 2012 organizers, want a good atmosphere and to avoid the embarrassment of empty stadiums and have created the “Fans in Front” scheme, meaning spectators who can be relied upon to show up to events and support competing athletes will get priority over VIPs, sponsors and members of the media, who may even be asked to move.
If the idea is successful, it’s not only the fans who’ll benefit – broadcasters will also be happy as unoccupied seats in camera ranges can negatively affect advertising revenues.
LOCOG’s chief executive, Paul Deighton, told the International Olympic Committee's annual meeting this week: “Balancing needs of athletes, media, Olympic family [officials and sponsors] and spectators is always a challenge.”
