The 2012 Paralympics in London
London is putting a huge effort into ensuring the Paralympic Games in 2012 have just as much commitment put into their preparation as the Olympic Games.
And the man in charge of this, Chris Holmes, said: “Previously, the Paralympics have always been a secondary thought to the Olympic Games but that is not the case with London 2012. He said this is something that has never happened before.
"In 2016 [when Rio de Janeiro will host the Games], we aim to hand over a Paralympic baton that is far different to the one we received and a baton that truly hold the Olympic Games as an equal event."
Most of London’s Paralympic competition venues are set in two zones - the Olympic Park Zone and the River Zone – which are within 15 minutes of each other, leading to one of the most compact Games ever and minimizing travel times and disruption for Paralympians and spectators.
If you’re planning on coming to London to watch some of the most extraordinary men and women on the planet, then you’re not going to be disappointed.
