Things to do in London - The Great British Beer Festival

The Great British Beer Festival, held every August at the Earls Court exhibition centre in south-west London, is Britain's biggest beer festival and brings together a over 500 real ales, ciders, perries and international beers.

More than a dozen bars run by CAMRA (that’s the Campaign For Real Ale) – the majority of them regional and therefore a good place to start if you want to find real ale from your favourite part of the country – serve a mouth-watering range of beers throughout the five-day festival period.

There is also a fine selection of brewery bars selling new beers and running competitions. There is also Bar Nouveau which offers some tasty brews from some of Britain's newest breweries, the Real Ale in a Bottle Bar and Bar UnusuALE which features vegetarian and organic beer as well as coeliac-friendly beer.

Some lovely food is also available throughout the Great British Beer Festival – it’s not too expensive and is the perfect accompaniment for all that lovely beer! It includes traditional bar snacks (such as pork scratching) as well as hot international dishes (including some lovely curries).

CAMRA welcomes families and provides a family room with great views of the festival. Here you’ll find children's entertainers, video games, toys and table football, along with soft drinks, snacks and sweets. It’s open every lunchtime until 9pm.

Entry is free for all under 18s to the Family Room, and children must remain there throughout the festival (and must be supervised by a family member).
