London - The Facts
Why is London so popular? What does this world city really have to offer? Is London actually as good as people make out? Find out for yourself with this London 2012 UIG guide.
London. Located in the south-east of England, it is one of the world’s great cities. It’s home to the Queen of England, James Bond and over 200 different nationalities.
It’s the centre of time, navigation and fish ’n’ chips. A city so full of contrasts – on the one hand, London is chock full of history, culture and tradition and on the other, you’re presented with cutting-edge fashions and the most contemporary lifestyle on the planet.
It’s quintessentially English…while at the same time it has successfully absorbed and been influenced by so many international tastes, customs and peoples.
It’s why this 2000-year-old capital of Britain has to be the coolest capital on Earth.
London is divided by the river Thames, with the old City of London in the east, much of the nightlife in the West End, the center of government in Westminster and enough parks to make it one of the greenest cities in the world too.
Whatever you're into and whatever your needs, London delivers - be it art, high culture, fine dining, the best galleries, museums (which are all free), nightlife, accommodation for all budgets, pubs, sporting occasions, social occasions...the list is endless.
