#1 - The London Eye
There’s no better way to get a sense of this vast city than from atop the London Eye.
Built to celebrate the new millennium, it’s the largest cantilevered observation wheel in the world (a gigantic 135m high!). You ride for a graceful 30 minutes then, when you reach the top, you are 1.5 times as high as the Statue of Liberty. On a clear day, you can see up to 40km in all directions, where London ends and the countryside begins. The view is phenomenal, and has to be seen to be believed.
Since the London Eye opened in 2000, more than 29 million people have already tasted this glorious, panoramic outlook.
During the summer season, up to 23,000 people will ride the Eye every day. And it's clear why - there is simply no better way to take in the original City of London, the Gherkin, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the BT Tower and so many other world-famous London sights in glorious close-up and in one go.
