British Rock | British Music Experience | 20 London Things Not To Miss

#2 – The British Music Experience – experience the state-of-the-art exhibition that tells you all you need to know about British music history.

The British Music Experience is a great new addition to the list of top London tourist attractions (and is actually a registered not-for-profit charity). It’s Britain's interactive museum of popular music

It combines state-of-the-art effects to show how rock, pop, dance and other genres (such as reggae and punk) came into being and how they’ve influenced British culture, art, politics and fashion since the 1950s. The British Music Experience celebrates the most influential music created by British artists as well as work by international musicians who have found their inspiration or audience within the UK.

As well as telling you all you need to know about British music history, the British Music Experience is also fully interactive. Have fun as you…

  • Record songs and dance videos
  • Flick through virtual record collections
  • Feel the rush of being in the crowd at classic gigs
  • Perform at a virtual concert
  • Eavesdrop on fantasy dinner parties
  • Search a giant interactive map of significant British music locations
  • Get close to some of the most legendary music memorabilia of all time (including Noel Gallagher's Union Jack guitar, David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust outfit and Ashes to Ashes clown suit, Roger Daltrey’s Woodstock outfit, a vintage Amy Winehouse dress and original lyrics by Coldplay and the Sex Pistols).

The British Music Experience even puts you just a few steps from becoming a rock star in the Gibson Interactive Studio where you can get virtual tutorials to sing, mix as well as rock out on guitar and drums and keep your recordings

Over 100 bands are featured in this London attraction, including The Beatles, Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, Queen, Oasis, Coldplay and Spice Girls.

The British Music Experience is located at in the O2 "bubble", one of the venues for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games (to be known as North Greenwich Arena 1), and children under 6 years old are admitted free of charge.
