London Airport Transfer

There are numerous options for your London Airport Transfer.

Heathrow Airport, London’s “gateway to the world” and the UK’s only hub airport, has brilliant connections to central London.

Depending on how you’re traveling, it’s possible to get to central London in as little as 15 minutes – that’s when you travel by Heathrow Express trains into London’s Paddington station from Heathrow Central, Terminals 1 and 3. Heathrow Express trains run every 15 minutes. Journey times from Terminal 5 are slightly longer, at 21 minutes and fares start at £16.50 for a single or £32 for a return.

As well as Heathrow Express trains, Heathrow Connect ‘stopping’ trains take 25 to 30 minutes and run from Heathrow to Paddington via local stations in west London. Trains run every 30 minutes and journey time is 25 minutes from Terminals 1 and 3 or 28 minutes from Terminal 4. A single fare to Paddington is £6.90.

You can also complete your London Airport Transfer by London Underground (or “Tube”) for a cost-effective service into central London: the journey from Terminals 1 and 3, on the Piccadilly Line, takes just under 40 minutes to Green Park and just under 50 minutes to Leicester Square (pronounced ‘Lester Square’) with a single fare costing just £4.

By car and in average traffic conditions, the journey takes between 30 minutes and an hour. There are no road tolls if you drive from Heathrow. However, you will have to pay the congestion charge (currently £8) if you drive into some parts of central London.

It is also worth bearing in mind that parking restrictions apply almost everywhere in central London – and that’s if you can find a space. Your best bet is probably to park in a multi-storey or underground car park, such as those operated by NCP.

If you don’t want to drive after your Heathrow flight but still prefer to travel by road you can take a London taxi, plenty of which are available outside each terminal. The cost to central London is £45–£70 and the journey time is approximately one hour.

You can also go by coach – National Express services run from the central bus station (Terminals 1 and 3) throughout the day with journey times of between 40 and 80 minutes to Victoria coach station in central London and many other destinations around the capital.

Another option for your London Airport Transfer is to use the service operated by Hotel by Bus – a rapid shared-ride service by air-conditioned coach, linking you to your hotel or other destination in central London.
