Gordon Ramsay at Claridges
If you are visiting London for the 2012 Olympics or indeed at anytime you would do well to visit the restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s. Situated of course in the world famous Claridge’s Hotel in the heart of London’s Mayfair district. Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s exudes glamour with consummate ease with its fabulous Art Deco surroundings, a theme that even overflows into the adjoining salons, where you can experience private dining for up to 60 guests.
There are three main menus to choose from that amazingly will not break the bank. Take your time with the Menu Prestige that offers a six course menu for £80.00 that includes such dishes as Thai-spiced lobster ravioli, green beans, crayfish bisque and Rack of Cumbrian Lamb with Confit shoulder served with courgette chips, peas, broad beans and mint sauce.
Alternatively choose from the A La Carte that for a three course meal will set you back £70.00. Nine starters, nine main courses and nine desserts leave you spoilt for choice. To pick one from each course (depending on availability) I would choose the Sauteed Scottish scallops, pan-seared water melon, morel veloute followed by Fillets of John Dory, passion fruit butter sauce, purple sprouting broccoli, puffed rice with smoky bacon. For dessert, Blackcurrant and hibiscus crème brulee with pain d’epices.
The Set Lunch offers three courses for an amazing £30.00 per head. The three choices per course are varied and well thought out and would be a perfect break in your day of sightseeing or West End shopping.
Be aware, a 12.5% discretionary gratuity will be added to the bill in all the restaurants.
For those of you who are a little more financially adventurous you may want to impress your friends by booking the Chefs Table. The Chefs Table is situated in the heart of the kitchen and overlooks the central ‘pass’. Your night starts in the restaurant lounge where your personal server and sommelier will greet you and your guests with champagne and canapés, escort you to the Chefs Table and ensure that your whole gastronomic experience stays in the memory for a long time.
Once there you will be introduced to your Chefs who will help you create a bespoke menu using the freshest produce available. Your sommelier will assist in choosing wines that will compliment the food from your menu. As an extra bonus your menus on the day will be signed by Gordon and sent on to you as a permanent keepsake of your evening. (poa)
Claridge’s is one of London’s oldest and finest Hotels. It boasts many restaurants but in my opinion Gordon Ramsay at Claridges would me my choice. All-in-all the sumptuous setting, the wonderful décor, excellent service and amazing value sets Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s aside from its erstwhile competition.
